Rachel Ridout – soprano saxophone/Bb clarinet; Chris Hatton – alto saxophone/Bb clarinet; Victoria Soames Samek – tenor saxophone/Eb and Bb clarinets; Melanie Henry – baritone saxophone/Bb & bass clarinets.

Formed in 2013, Samek Player (formerly ReedPlay) is an exciting ensemble committed to performing music by British composers. Uniquely versatile, ReedPlay performs in various instrument combinations of saxophones and clarinets bringing life to existing and new works of music. Their debut recording, for the specialist record label Clarinet and Saxophone Classics, features music by celebrated British composer Joseph Horovitz.

Members of the quartet have performed throughout Europe, North America the Far East and at major venues in London including St John’s Smith Square, South Bank Centre. They have also been heard on BBC 3 radio and Classic FM. In demand both as soloists and ensemble musicians, members of ReedPlay are also proud to teach at a number of the country’s most prestigious musical education establishments, such as Trinity /Laban and The Royal Military School of Music, and are committed to bringing new and exciting repertoire to unfamiliar audiences.
