A few words from Chad Robinson
Fireshapes for two clarinets was composed in 2012 while I was living in London, UK. The work received its first performance by the Texas New Music Ensemble at their debut concert in Houston, TX on August 23rd, 2014.
There is a kind of flickering heard throughout much of the work that often builds into larger, more
defined “shapes” before vanishing again – similar to what one sees when peering closely into a fire.
Fireshapes comprises of eight contrasting movements.
Scoring: 2 B flat clarinets or clarinet in B flat & clarinet in B flat/bass clarinet
