Pete Furniss performs internationally across multiple genres, including orchestral, chamber, contemporary and electronic music, and both idiomatic and free improvisation. He is passionate about ensemble collaboration and the clarinet’s ability to adapt to these myriad contexts.
A recent focus on bringing digital technology into a practice of the clarinet has led to performances at conferences in Edinburgh, Lisbon, Athens, Amsterdam (STEIM), Brighton, Manchester and London’s Barbican Centre.
Time Pieces (CC0054), an American anthology, features new works and established repertoire. Clarinetronics (forthcoming 2017), presents mixed electroacoustic works by Pierre Boulez, Alex Harker, Richard Dudas and Andrew May, and his own pieces.
Pete is an active educator and community musician and is a clarinet tutor for the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
