A few words from George Shrapnell
Quintessential ‘Quarter’point is an original composition for saxophone quartet written for the Goldsmiths Composers Collective Autumn concert in 2017. One word that epitomises music in the 21st century, undeniably, is multifaceted. This quartet explores the diverse
possibilities in compositional approaches to texture, counterpoint, and polyphony, but also not forgetting chordal homophony and antiphonal textures. Influenced by many musical genres, this work has subtly been influenced by Bach Chorales, Renaissance polyphony,
film, and neoclassical music.
