This collection of clarinet concertos Saverio Mercadante (1795-1870) are wonderful examples of the light Italian operatic genre and are brilliantly played here by the distinguished Italian clarinettist Luigi Magistrelli.
Presented together on this album for the first time and supported by an extensive booklet, this is a glorious example of early classical clarinet concertos and a historical turning point for the clarinet being increasingly recognised by composers as a solo instrument.
