Premiere recording
Clarinet Classics presents a recital of Spanish clarinet music given by the pre-eminent Spanish clarinettist – Joan Enric Lluna. The second most popular instrument in Spain, there is a wealth of music written for the clarinet by Spanish composers, some of which is represented on this CD. This album follows in the tradition of the French Solo de Concours; melodic in style and technically dazzling.
Antonio Romero – Fantasia on the Opera Lucrecia de Borgia; Julián Menéndez – Introducción, andante y danza, Meditación; Miguel Yuste – Vibraciones del alma; Xavier Montsalvatge – Self-paráfrasis; Joan Guinjoan Fantasia; Salvador Brotons – Sonata; César Cano – Vigilias
” ….. this conspectus of a century-and-a half of composers will be practically virgin territory for all but the best informed……Lluna sales through with total assurance.”
