Celebrating the Clarinet Chamber Music by Thea Musgrave
In the first of two discs which brings together the clarinet chamber music by the eminent Scottish composer Thea Musgrave. Victoria Samek commissioned Threnody in 1998 to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of her teacher and mentor, Roger Fallows. Their relationship has continued to prosper with further commissions and dedications. These recordings are a testament to their earliest collaboration of chamber works by Thea Musgrave, many of which receive their recording premiere. With an extensive booklet with liner notes written by the composer, this is a fascinating document, which will be sought after by lovers of 20th Century music, and those interested to explore the music of one of our most versatile and poetic of composers.
