The French Collection
French composers for every audience, selected by Founder and Director Victoria Samek.
French repertoire for a clarinetist is like German repertoire for a pianist; it would be unthinkable to learn either instrument without the inclusion of music written by the great composers from both Countries. For this collection I have included my Solos de Concours II, a two CD set which includes some of the best known and loved repertoire written for this wonderful tradition plus a selection of sight-reading pieces set alongside the Solo de Concours. Ravel and Debussy and Debussy are quintessential the key representative of impressionists. To hear them beautifully arranged and played members of The Clarinet Section will give the listener hours of pleasure as it has me! The collection would not be complete without including the great French player of today Philippe Cuper in a CDs of 20th century chamber music and a CD devoted to the complete music written by his teacher Louis Cahuzac. An irresistible collection of wonderful music!
